  1. Hey, Rick, great article. I use a Lenovo Ideapad with a touchscreen for work, but lately I have been interested in getting a new computer since mine seems to lack the resources I need for several tasks.
I like the apple macbook pro, the touchscreen is a nice feature I look for on computers.
The specs don’t look bad either, I will definitely take a look at that model.

    1. That MacBook Pro sure seems to get a lot of great reviews and everyone I know who has it, absolutely loves it. It makes me want to get one in the future. Stop back by and let me know if you get the MacBook Pro and if you really end up liking it.

  2. This is great! I definitely am still sporting my MacBook Air and need to update to a Pro ASAP! – Though this info is great for other options that I totally didn’t even think of!

    1. I currently use the Dell Precision 5520, as it was my companies choice for me, which has turned out to be very powerful. I recently bought a Dell Inspiron for my son who is mostly focused on college. There are so many different types of laptops on the market but this list is really great to help people find about anything they need based on their unique situations. I’m glad this list has helped you.

  3. Great post! My husband has an older Mac Pro and we have loved it. It is about 8 years old now though, and it is suffering a bit. I got a cheaper computer to have for myself because I figured I didn’t need a MacBook, but I wish I had just spent the extra money now!! They really are great laptops.

    1. You are another person I can add to my list of people who love the MacBook Pro. That seals the deal for me. I will make the MacBook one of my next purchases.

Thanks for the comment and a great reference for the MacBook Pro.

  4. So many choices! I do need a laptop. Right now I have a Microsoft Surface (the first one with the small screen). I really do want something with a larger screen and the keypad is not optimal either. You have a lot of choices. Which one would you recommend as being the best budget pick with a good size screen?

    1. The Dell XPS 15 is around $1200 with a 15.6″ screen. I personally wouldn’t go smaller than a 15″ screen. The Dell Latitude is also a good buy, also near $1200 but with a slightly smaller 14.0″ screen. I don’t mean to keep bringing up Dell here but they Dell Inspiron 15 7000 with a 15.6″ screen, also for about $1200 is another good buy. This one will be slightly heavier and thicker as it has dual fans and is better for gaming.

Many of the others have either smaller screens than I like or are closer to the $2000 dollar price range. You can always get a great laptop with the i5 core processor instead of the i7 which will get you a great laptop at a significantly reduced price.

    1. Hey Jerry. I personally wouldn’t list the Lenovo ThinkPad as my top recommendation because I need a more powerful work station as I am an engineer and have some demanding software. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon came up significantly more times in in other top laptop reviews for 2018. That is the only reason I have it in the top spot. I hope that helps and clears this up.

This list is not created by a set of specific criteria and strenuous testing, rather it is my compilation of many other top laptop reviews for 2018. I personally like the Dell Precision 5520 since it is more powerful and is better suited as a work station.

  5. Awesome post there are so many laptops on the market that it sometimes confuses people about what to buy, but the post that you have written is great this will help your readers know what to look for and how to spend their money. Excellent review.

    1. Thank you Norman. There are definitely places to go to get more detailed information but I wanted to begin the discussion of many of the top laptops of 2018 with this article. I was surprised at how quickly it grew in size as I began writing some basic things about each laptop.

  6. What a great post, you have written extensively on this topic laptop. You have clearly differentiated the laptops that you have made it easy for one to choose whichever he/she likes.
Where my eye is on the the top two but I can’t give it a go now my purse isn’t telling me the truth, I will recommend anyone who wants laptop to this site.
    It is a great site.

    1. Thank you for the kind words. The top two or three definitely show up more on top laptop reviews for 2018 but they are not necessarily the best laptops for everyone. Some people may want the bigger work horse laptops and others just want to surf the web and can spend a lot less money; but this list definitely has something for everyone.

  7. I still have my old Dell Laptop I got five years ago and it works fine still. I guess I’m from the old school where you have to make do with what you have or just too cheap to buy something new. But to be honest I have used this computer for all of my blogging and everything I need but am looking at something new down the road. I like the choices you have up on here and will be checking them out. Great article. You out did yourself!

    1. Thank you for the compliment. It’s amazing how much time it took to research and write that article. I am creating another article now on the docking stations for each laptop on that list and guess what? It’s taking a long time to do that also.

I tend to use my computers and laptops for a long time but there comes a time when it decides to take it’s last breath and I get the blue screen from hell, or something like that and than we get to go find ourselves a new fancy hot rod. Even the cheapest and least powerful laptops on this list are still incredible from what we used in the past.

Let me know when you do upgrade and what you choose.

  8. This is really helpful for people looking for a new laptop. My laptop is still in really great condition. But if I ever decide to get a new one, I will have to look through this article again. Thank you for all of the information. It would have been a little more helpful if it had more about each laptop though. I will have to look over this if I am just scanning for a minute. After I could go and look up more information on each one. This is a really good start to finding one.

    1. Thank you for comment about adding more information about each laptop. I agree that is something I should do. I’m a little concerned about making the article too much longer but I think you have a great point about at least adding a little more to each one.

I appreciate the heads up and I will add some more information, most likely this week.

      Thank you.

  9. Wonderful article, just the right post filled with great information about all laptops and electronic’s.
I have an old Toshiba laptop, it’s about 8 years old. I need a new one because it has it’s moments.
Everyday there is a problem! Now, I am using my Android, which is not an easy task, as I try to keep up with the intense Super Affiliate Challenge.
Awesome info at the right time. Great Job!

    1. Thank you so much for the encouragement. It’s amazing how many great options are on the market and there is one that will fit every need.

I was recently amazed at how much better the laptops had gotten. I bought my son a Dell 2-in-1 laptop for college and it was ridiculous as to how fast it was, how thin it was and how many cool new things it has for social networking; and it can be used like a tablet.

      I was impressed.
